Dr. Carmela Oracion of the Ateneo Center for Educational Development (ACED) talked about the hunger situation in the country, why it is important and urgent to address hunger and malnutrition among infants and schoolchildren, and the contributions of ACED in the fight against hunger, i.e., school feeding and family feeding programs, which Zonta Manila 1 has supported. Dr. Oracion and the ACED Team also discussed the ACED-Zonta Manila 1 project on "Young Mothers' Food and Future" which will provide support for the food and education and training of teenage mothers and pregnant women in Payatas, Quezon City. The webinar was attended by Zonta Manila 1 officers and members, Zonta  Area 1 Director Noni Pulhin, and several Area 1 presidents and members. The event was co-hosted by Zonta Manila 1 Pres. Gisela Concepcion and Vice Pres. Ruby Amog.

Violence Against women and children part 2

During the U.N. 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence in November, Manila 1 hosted two webinars on Medical and Legal Warriors of VAWC or violence against women and children, featuring two prominent professionals, Dr. Pauline Convocar and lawyer Katrina Legarda. We have offered to support the training of more of their medical and legal staff dealing with VAWC in hospitals, clinics, police stations and crime sites. We also hung 17 huge posters on anti-VAWC in public places including schools and hospitals. We joined forces with Area 1 clubs in a motorcade parade against VAWC in Marikina City, and we supported our Area 1 Director Noni Pulhin in her project on anti-VAWC alarm gadgets or sirens.
